Blog entry Happy World Humanitarian Day!
- Concerned with human welfare
- Seeking to promote the rights and needs of other people
- All of the above
Of course, the correct answer is “all of the above”. If you are reading this, August 19 is your day.
Every year on this day, the world celebrates the people who sacrifice their lives and time to improving the lives of other humans around the world. The time you spend raising rice on Freerice, telling others about it, and working hard to make the world a better place make you a humanitarian. So Happy World Humanitarian Day and thank you!
You can find out more about the day, and find other ways to get involved here: http://ochaonline.un.org/whd/
Here are some other ideas for how you can celebrate the day:
1. Hold a Freerice tournament with your sister/brother/best friend/mother/etc
2. Tweet this message / share it on Facebook
3. Head over to WFP’s Get Involved section
4. Hold a Humanitarian’s Dinner and talk about the issues, then feedback the cost of the meal to help others eat
5. Write a blog post about being a humanitarian
Freerice is maintained by and supports the United Nations World Food Programme, the world's largest humanitarian organisation fighting hunger worldwide. To find out more go to WFP.org

Let's make every day World Humanitarian Day by playing lots of FREE RICE!! And go hug a friend.
Wow, what a day! The same day I made my 10K grain goal! I hope it is at least a week supply to a simple family!
i love free rice(: i thinks its awesome that i can have one click and give 10 grains of rice! helping people that are less fortunate is a great thing to do and im super happy that everyone is so involved in helping the welfare and happiness of other people!
Why isn't World Humanitarian day on calanders? It should be on one! 8D
humanitarian day is now one of my favorite holidays; caring to the people!!!!! 8D
Freerice! this time, my rice really dissapeared. well, i was playing the multiplication table for my group called anti-hacking. i earned 1000 rice and went to check in the group. but i could not believe my eyes when i saw that i had only earned 220 rice grains. can help me solve the problem? even if i did not get my rice on the screen, i just hope the 'hungry people' get it.
I'm really grateful for people that make a difference in the world. It's wonderful that there are people out there interested in making the world a better place for everyone. Here's how I make a difference in the world: answer questions on FreeRice, sew pillows for the animal shelter, donate money to conservation groups and practice nonviolence. Violence is not the answer! By the way, since school is starting soon, I started studying multiplication on FreeRice. Now my studying is productive and I'm learning a lot! Thank you FreeRice for creating an awesome website so that people like me can make a difference by learning!
